New End-User Training
UHMIS: New End-User Training
Anyone who requires access to the Utah Homeless Management Information System (UHMIS) as part of their job duties and is currently working with a UHMIS-participating organization may complete this training.
It is highly recommended that users complete this new end-user training before starting any additional training offered for UHMIS.
A training calendar is posted on our CALENDAR if in-person training is preferred. Users only need to complete this training once and may choose the best format.

This form should be filled out by the new users’ supervisor.
Things to know about this training:
- This training should be completed BEFORE starting any other UHMIS-offered training.
- Users will get an email about 3 business days after a supervisor has signed the user up for training.
- Users will be asked to do the following:
- Watch the training videos
- Pass the quiz with an 80% or greater
- Complete the homework assignment
- Submit a completed UHMIS End-User agreement
- Email HMIS@utah.gov after all requirements are met.
- After the user has finished all requirements and has emailed HMIS@utah.gov, the UHMIS System Administration team will check the user’s homework and pass or fail it.
- If the user passes:
- They will be granted access to the live database.
- If the user fails
- They will be sent information on what is missing and offered additional assistance.

UHMIS: DVSP Coordinated Entry
Anyone who works with a Domestic Violence Service Provider (DVSP) and requires access to the Utah Homeless Management Information System (UHMIS) to participate in Coordinated Entry may complete this training. The DVSP must be a current UHMIS participating organization.
If training with a UHMIS Lead Agency team member is preferred, please email HMIS@utah.gov to schedule. Users may choose to complete training however is best suited for them.

- Users will get an email about five business days after a supervisor has signed the user up for training.

UHMIS: Find Client
This training is designed for new users who only have ‘view’ access to UHMIS. A small number of agencies have been approved to use UHMIS in ‘view-only’ mode. This training allows those users to access the system.
UHMIS: Find Client New End-User Training.
Things to know about this training:
- This training should be completed instead of the UHMIS: New End-User training for those requiring view-only access to UHMIS. Most users must complete the ‘UHMIS: New End-User training.’
- Users will only be allowed to complete this training if their agency was approved for ‘view-only’ access or if the UHMIS Lead Agency makes specific accommodations for a particular user.
- The list of view-only agencies is within the training quiz.
- Users will be asked to do the following to pass this training:
- Watch the video
- Pass the test
- Complete the End-User Agreement, and submit it to HMIS@utah.gov.
- Users should email HMIS@utah.gov when all requirements have been met.
- Find Client users will be required to complete annual recertification training with all other users.

Additional training
Night-By-Night Emergency Shelter
This training is meant for new users working with a Night-By-Night Emergency Shelter (NBN ES). The new users’ manager and/or supervisor should fill out the form.

Things to know about this training:
- This training should be completed AFTER finishing new end-user training.
- Users can be signed up BEFORE starting new end-user training, but supervisors should allow users to complete the new end-user training before users are asked to complete the NBN Emergency Shelter training.
- Users will get an email about 3 business days after a supervisor has signed the user up for training.
- Users will be asked to do the following to pass this training:
- Watch the training video
- Pass the quiz with a score of 80% or greater
- Complete the homework assignment
- User emails HMIS@utah.gov informing UHMIS Lead Agency that the user has completed all requirements.
- After the user has finished all requirements and has emailed HMIS@utah.gov, the UHMIS Lead Agency will check the user’s homework and pass or fail it.
- If the user passes
- If they already have access to the live database: The user will have additional access rights granted for NBN Emergency Shelter bed management.
- If they do not have access to the live database: The user will have NBN Emergency Shelter Bed Management access rights granted after they pass the new end-user training.
- If the user fails, they will be sent an email with the corrections required.
- If the user passes
- If the user works at a Shelter The Homeless location in Salt Lake County: they will also need an end-user agreement signed between them and Shelter The Homeless.
UHMIS: Security Officer Training
Training for UHMIS Security Officers to access the security officer menus.
Things to know about this training:
- This training is for people identified as UHMIS Security officers by their agency.
- It grants access to additional menus with advanced user permissions.
- To be granted access, users must:
- Be a Security Officer for their agency.
- Pass the quiz with a score of 80% or higher.

Training for users who enter any Housing Problem Solving or Diversion data into UHMIS.

- It does not grant additional access to the system but will clarify the CE Events and the process associated with entering Housing Problem Solving data into UHMIS.
